EGG ROLL!

That title's for you, Eun. :D

Ok, I have a small gripe. Church marquee signs. Now, again, before I go on, I am NOT trying to be all "anti-establishment" nor am I questioning any practice of my church. But, as I was leaving my church last night, I noticed our sign. It said:

"Be the change you wish to see in the world."

Beautiful quote. A refreshing change from the corny ones you see. Here are a few favorites:

Free Trip to heaven. Details Inside!
Try our Sundays. They are better than Baskin-Robbins.
Searching for a new look? Have your faith lifted here!
Have trouble sleeping? We have sermons - come hear one!
Sign broken. Message inside this Sunday.
Fight truth decay - study the Bible daily.
How will you spend eternity - Smoking or Non-smoking?
Dusty Bibles lead to Dirty Lives:
This is a ch_ _ ch. What is missing? --------- (U R)
Forbidden fruit creates many jams.

The issue, then, you ask? The quote on our sign was said by Ghandhi. Was his name attributed to the quote? Nope. I don't know; it just bugs me. Ghandhi, though not a Christian, was a great man, a humanitarian, a great speaker. Give credit where credit is due.

Thoughts? Am I way off base here?

That is all.

I find it quite humorous that the quote was by a non-Christian. That is all.

it was a good quote, and i applaud them for using it. but, seriously, they should have contributed it to Ghandhi, even if he wasn't a Christian. just because someone isn't a christian doesn't automatically mean that his ideals are worthless. and obviously people know that, seeing as how the quote was used...oh, and those marquee signs can get a bit idiotic.

Maybe they didn't have enough H's to spell out "Ghandhi"?

Just a thought.

hmmmm...my mom made some homemade egg rolls today...they were really good...just a random fact.

and I see a lot of sayings like that posted on the Liberty Baptist church on the way to school..but I think those are more interesting.

I don't think Ghandhi would mind... I use to love reading the church signs but they've become steadily more retarded and the churches i see on my way to and from school keep the signs up too long. You just can't help reading the darn things. neway, how'd the chorus trip go?

No not off at all.

But I'm going to post my favorite that I told you about in NYC...

"Stop, Drop, and Roll won't work in Hell."

I doubt your church intentionally didn't credit Ghandhi. That's just such a popular quote, they may not know who said it. It's on greeting cards and whatnot.

Most of the church signs are cheesy, but they don't make me roll my eyes nearly as much as when I see "Congradulations seniors!" every May.

The Ghandhi quote was in Grey's Anatomy last night!
