**AP LANG/ENG 1102 ASSIGNMENT DUE COMPLETED TUES. 2/2 by 11:59pm:

Using the classic political cartoon(s) posted below (paper copy given IN CLASS MON. 2/1 and also a PDF attached on Classroom post)
  • NOTE BELOW I've embedded BOTH the Russian original version as well as the American rendition (just like on the hard copy/PDF), but here IN COLOR for your reference

1) EVERYONE COMPLETE AN O.P.T.I.C. VISUAL RHETORICAL ANALYSIS FOR THE IMAGE(s) in context (*as you did with the Vietnam Vet. photo over the wkend)

--via Imgur/Google Images, 20 Feb. 2020; Krokodil
 Magazine, Soviet Union, 1953

--via Google Images; same cartoon, this time with AMERICAN/U.S. contexts
  • ANNOTATE/MAKE NOTES on the paper copy given, on the PDF, typed up, post-its, etc. applying the O.P.T.I.C. ANALYSIS STRATEGY for VISUAL RHETORIC on your reference sheet
  • Once again, note what stands out rhetorically? What's missing? What's present? What do you *assume* based upon this photo? What appeals are present? Body language? Overall themes presented? Connotations DIFFERING/SIMILAR from the SOVIET to the AMERICAN context--HOW?

2) SUBMIT this completed assignment to me via email, picture/pdf, text photo, Remind, etc. (whatever works best for you) NO LATER THAN 11:59pm, TUES. 2/2--NO EXCEPTIONS.
    • MAKE SURE you have a paper/hard copy/printed copy of this completed assignment for the next time we meet F2F/for your binder
  • Please note that this assignment counts as a valuable VISUAL RHETORIC/O.P.T.I.C. DISCUSSION GRADE when we return to class, so put your best into this assignment! --BE READY WHEN WE MEET AGAIN TO DISCUSS AND CONTRIBUTE WITH CRITICAL THINKING AND YOUR BEST EFFORTS!
*********************

**Note that as soon as we return to F2F instruction/in class, we'll go back to working on our DIDLS "One-Pager" GROUP PROJECTS; everyone F2F and VIRTUAL STAY TUNED!
