**CLASSWORK** TOGETHER DUE COMPLETED/FOR WED. 3/5:

1) FIRST, TODAY, WITH ME, LET'S carefully read Bradbury's short story "The Pedestrian" (WRITING OR NOTES** section of binder w/J#7 1/2-sheet response IN WRITING SECTION)

2) ALSO, LISTEN IN CLASS AS I GUIDE YOU WITH SOME WORDS/DEFINITION OF IMAGERY, AND as we read, YOU WILL EACH HIGHLIGHT WITHIN THE TEXT the specific figurative details/LITERARY ELEMENTS NOTED BELOW that I assigned TO EACH PERSON IN CLASS Wednesday before read; highlight/make note of/be ready to explain for DISCUSSION OF WHAT YOU FOUND MORE IN DEPTH FRIDAY 3/7 when we meet again COMPLETELY:

  • LIGHT imagery
  • DARK imagery
  • COLD/TOUCH imagery
  • FIRE/LIGHT/WARM imagery
  • specific SYMBOLS
    • **EVERYONE LOOK FOR A THEME/THEMES at work within the story (**RE: technology, dystopias, knowledge vs. ignorance, following the status quo, FEAR of the unknown, etc.)

Bradbury himself stated, “You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.”
