- YOUR **MAIN** GOAL IS TO COMPLETE [BEFORE CLASS] THE JOURNAL #17 ACT 4 QU's BELOW--they're for the part of ACT 4 we read in class Fri. 2/23
- Don't neglect this assignment, as we'll finish reading ACT 4 next week, and then have a few more ACT 4 qu's to complete for J#17

HW DUE/**READY TO DISCUSS IN CLASS MON. 2/26:
1) Make sure BY CLASSTIME MON. 2/26 to ANSWER THE ACT 4 QU's x5 BELOW as the ACT 4 portion of JOURNAL #17:
ACT 4 (*first set of qu's for the ACT 4 part we've read):
- How much time has passed between Acts III and IV?
- What problems are occurring in Salem now that so many people are in the jails?
- Hathorne states, “At every execution I have seen naught but high satisfaction in the town” (127; 117). What is your reaction to this statement/what does the judge infer here about people's reactions to their judgments?
- Why does Parris think there may be a riot in Salem? What does he ask Danforth to do to prevent this, and what is Danforth's answer? Why?
- How many people have now confessed?
2) AND FYI: our FINAL DISCUSSIONS THIS NEXT WEEK in class for THE CRUCIBLE ACT 4 **AS WELL AS THE PLAY IN ITS ENTIRETY AS WE TRANSITION TO TYING IN MILLER'S WARNINGS ABOUT McCARTHYISM/THE RED SCARE AND COMPLETING OUR IN-CLASS MIDTERM,** will be guided by all of the JOURNAL #17 ACT 4 qu's, so DO YOUR BEST!
