--identifying DEPENDENT/subordinate vs. INDEPENDENT CLAUSES
--identifying the FOUR sentence types (SS, CD, CX, CDX)
--identifying comma splices/run-on sentences 
--identifying sentence fragments

complete the following:

--read WAR “Background and Purpose” statement

--read Cicero, excerpt from On Duties (and background!); answer the qu’s marked on the pg.: #s 1, 2, 3 

--read Eisenhower’s “Message to Invasion Troops” (and background!); complete a **SOAPSTone strategy 'NOTES' page on this speech; follow notes from class today! (*the questions marked for this selection are for DISCUSSION/don’t answer on paper)
