The Final Countdown...

I sit here with a group of juniors who finished their End-of-Course Tests over an hour ago, waiting, waiting, waiting, for the bell to dismiss them to their next destination. Life here this week is one big bubble grid, what with testing and finals. Anger ensures with these tests. No, the kids aren't rude and angry with me, just the whole concept of standardized testing--even with as little as they understand about the dark underbelly of the beast--really erks us all. It's a viscious cycle. Hey, at least I get to catch up somewhat on my blog!

"An Ode to the Agnst of Testing" (in honor of Mr. Garrett's 2nd block U.S. History class)

So much of adolescence is an ill-defined dying,
An intolerable waiting,
A longing for another place and time,
Another condition.
--Theodore Roethke, “I'm Here"

EIGHT tedious, painful, wincing days to go...

Hey, if you feel like traveling for Memorial Day Weekend--- if you don't already have plans--- Kara's dedication is Sunday the 27th.

I would, but it's the weekend of graduation and I've already committed to something at Antioch for that Sunday; thanks for the invite, though! : )

Do you remember that "school year countdown" feeling? There's nothing that matches it in Grown Up World. Unless you're a teacher.
